OPERA FUOCO OBBLIGATO : The Labyrinth of Love

This program of Baroque arias, devoted to love in mythology, invites the listener to journey through a labyrinth of human emotions, embodied by the elements of nature. The journey begins with French arias evoking winged creatures—elusive butterflies, migratory birds—that address fidelity, constancy, and the wounded heart. Then come German, Italian, and English arias that plunge into darkness: monsters, snakes, and spiders emerge from the shadows, revealing fear, rage, deception, and loss. Despite these dark paths and the almost deadly sleep of Schürmann’s melancholic aria, light returns with Bach’s cantata dedicated to Aeolus and Vivaldi’s Zefiretti.
